A Very Unusual Picture of Fortuna

Here's a view you don't see too often in these historic pictures. The photographer climbed up to the top of the high school building, pointed the camera north at the grade school and recorded the view for us. The high school was located at what is now the Fortuna Middle School in the 800 block of L Street. That's the Springville Mill at the extreme left of the photo. On the extreme right, by that tear, is the Lane House, and a block west and across Main Street is the two-story meeting hall at the 9th Street intersection (aha, so that's why 9th Street used to be called Hall Street!). It has what appears to be a radio antenna on the roof. That building is now used by Low's Furniture.
